Interactions with Other Drugs

Never snort Viagra or any other medication. This is extremely dangerous and can have life-threatening consequences. Mixing Viagra with other drugs significantly increases the risk of adverse reactions.

Nitrates: Combining Viagra with nitrates (found in some heart medications) dramatically lowers blood pressure, potentially causing a dangerous drop leading to fainting or even heart attack. This combination is strictly prohibited.

Alpha-blockers: These medications, often prescribed for high blood pressure or prostate problems, can interact negatively with Viagra, leading to severe hypotension (low blood pressure).

CYP3A4 Inhibitors: Drugs that inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme (like ketoconazole or erythromycin) increase Viagra’s concentration in the blood, raising the risk of side effects like low blood pressure and prolonged erection (priapism).

CYP3A4 Inducers: Conversely, drugs that induce this enzyme (like rifampin or St. John’s Wort) can decrease Viagra’s effectiveness.

Alcohol: Combining Viagra with alcohol can intensify side effects, including dizziness, headaches, and flushing. Moderate alcohol consumption is advised, and always consult a doctor.

Other Medications: Many other medications can interact with Viagra. Always inform your doctor about all medications, supplements, and herbal remedies you are taking before starting Viagra treatment. This allows your doctor to assess potential interactions and adjust your treatment plan accordingly.

Always consult your physician before taking any medication, especially if you have pre-existing health conditions or are taking other drugs. They can provide tailored advice based on your individual circumstances.
