When to See a Doctor for a Sinus Infection

Seek medical attention if your sinus infection symptoms last longer than 10 days without improvement, or if they worsen. This includes increasing pain, fever exceeding 102°F (39°C), severe headache, or worsening facial swelling.

Severe Symptoms Requiring Immediate Care

Go to the emergency room or urgent care immediately if you experience double vision, stiff neck, confusion, or seizures. These could indicate a serious complication requiring immediate treatment. Also, if you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, seek immediate medical help.

Children with sinus infections should be seen by a doctor if they show signs of dehydration, persistent high fever, or significant lethargy. Contact your pediatrician if you have any concerns about your child’s sinus infection.
